What PaNAP is: a FREE NAP (Internet eXchange) in Paris, France.
PaNAP stands for "Paris NAP". We are a non-profit Internet eXchange, offering a free peering infrastructure in or around Paris, France -
relying on Bouygues Telecom's highly resilient core architecture.

Despite offering a free peering service, PaNAP is nevertheless a 24/7-maintained and supported architecture, together with full-featured member tools and high-profile quality of service.

Why would we do that ?
The answer is pretty simple actually...
Does this attempt to deliver free of charge high-end services seem odd to you ?
Simply because quality of service is important to us.
Because we consider this project as our fair share to the Internet community, to help it improve and grow.
PaNAP Services
PaNAP Services overview: learn about what PaNAP proposes
The below services are available and free of charge:
- A dedicated Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, or 10 Gigabit Ethernet NEW member port (see Service policy) on one of the PaNAP switches.
- Free access to the PaNAP members pages with miscellaneous tools and statistics.
- Free access to the PaNAP members mailling list.
- Free 24/7 PaNAP NOC access, phone and email based.
Whereas the below are at the member's charge:
- Your backhaul link to any of the PaNAP PoPs.
- Hosting of your routing/switch equipements.
- Cabling charges to the PaNAP switch.
The below physical connectivity is available for members on the PaNAP switches:
- For the Fast Ethernet connections:
- 100BaseTX RJ45 electrical
- For the Gigabit Ethernet connections:
- 1000BaseT RJ45 electrical
- 1000BaseSX optical
- 1000BaseLX optical
- For the 10 Gigabit Ethernet connections:
PaNAP is also the first free NAP to :
- Allow both multicast and IPv6 on the same VLAN
